Kanpur: Samajwadi Party (SP) national general secretary Ramgopal Yadav on Monday claimed in Etawah that the BJP would win fewer than 50 seats in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections if polling was fair.Yadav said voters had decided to bring the SP to power. Questioning Election Commission’s fairness, he alleged rigging in previous elections and said a fair poll was possible if the commission remained impartial. He accused the UP govt of demolishing people’s houses, shooting people in the leg and registering cases against those who criticised it. He alleged that officers conducting the most encounters were considered the best superintendents of police and accused govt of injustice and corruption. Yadav expressed apprehension that elections might cease to be held within five to 10 years if BJP remained in power, saying people were raising questions about the country’s democratic system.On Uniform Civil Code, he referred to its implementation in Uttarakhand and questioned what it had achieved. Referring to programmes held on Prime Minister’s birthday, Yadav claimed ordinary people had not lit lamps despite govt orders, reflecting public sentiment towards the administration.He alleged that UPI transactions had been taxed and claimed the proceeds would benefit UPI companies, which would donate to the BJP. Yadav alleged that laws were burdening people financially rather than serving their interests. Referring to the digital rupee, he said efforts were underway to create it, but claimed 95% of people could not use it. He claimed govt had become frightened by the Gen-G movement. Yadav said BJP could not win even its national president’s seat. Commenting on posters across the state, he alleged that the party had no achievements to present and used AI to create and circulate false news.He also claimed ordinary people did not attend chief minister Yogi Adityanath’s rallies. He alleged anganwadi workers, govt teachers and ASHA workers were summoned, while others were paid to attend.
