NOIDA: A 32-year-old man suffered several fractures in a hit-and-run accident at Ek Murti Chowk in Greater Noida earlier this month. A video of the accident recorded by a rear-view camera of a car shows that the collision impact flung the man into the air.Police have arrested the driver, a 24-year-old management student, on Sept 14 and impounded the car.According to a complaint filed by the victim, Himanshu Rai, at the Bisrakh police station, the accident took place at around 4.35 am on Sept 5. He told the cops, “It was my birthday, so after work my wife and I had gone out.”He collected a pre-ordered cake from a bakery and was crossing the road at the chowk when a white SUV, driven at high speed, rammed him.“The car hit me at what appeared to be a speed of over 100 km per hour and drove away. The way the car was being driven, it seemed that the driver might have been under the influence of alcohol,” he said.People in the vicinity rushed to his aid and took him to a hospital for treatment.The man sustained fractures to his legs, hand and knees, besides suffering a fracture to his spine. He is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.Police subsequently traced the vehicle and initiated action against the driver, Priyanshu. The Tata Punch allegedly involved in the accident was taken into custody.A case has been registered against him under BNS sections 125(b) (act endangering life or personal safety) and 281 (rash driving).The accident comes at the heel of a hit and run incident in Gurgaon where a biker was chased down by a group of men on Golf Course Road.Kalyan Bainsla (33), who rammed his car into Shivani Chauhan’s bike and caused her to fall in the middle of fast-moving traffic on Golf Course Road Sunday morning, was arrested at Dausa in Rajasthan on Tuesday.A video from her bike’s camera that Chauhan uploaded online showed her being knocked down near Sector 55-56 Rapid Metro station after the car repeatedly tried to get alongside her bike.Her Aprilia RS 457 slid across the road, while traffic sped past her.Bainsla’s cousin Lovneesh (32), who was in the Maruti Ciaz with him on Sunday, was arrested too. After examining the video of the crash that Shivani shared, police have added the attempt to murder charge in the FIR against Bainsla.“He caused the collision deliberately from the side. He had an intention to kill her,” DCP (east) Sandeep Kumar said
