SILCHAR: Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized 109.2kg of Yaba tablets, valued at around Rs 327 crore, during a joint operation in Assam’s Hailakandi district, officials said on Wednesday.The seizure, described by Assam Rifles as its biggest-ever haul of Yaba tablets, was made in the Ramnathpur area during an operation conducted on Tuesday and Wednesday following specific intelligence inputs.Officials said the contraband was packed in 546 packets. The joint team also seized two trucks, a mobile phone, an Aadhaar card and a driving licence. One person was arrested in connection with the consignment.The seizure is among the largest reported in the region and is suspected to have disrupted a major inter-state drug-trafficking route, officials said.The arrested person, the seized narcotics, the two vehicles and other recovered items were handed over to DRI’s Silchar unit for further investigation and legal action.Officials said the operation was the result of intelligence sharing and coordination between Assam Rifles and DRI in their campaign against organised drug trafficking in the region.
