Chennai: A man died after being flung off the Kathipara flyover and falling around 30ft to the ground below when the motorcycle he was riding rammed into the parapet in Guindy on Monday evening.The deceased was identified as Kumar, 20, who was employed at a private firm. Perarasu, 20, a student, who was riding pillion, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.According to police, the duo was travelling from Tambaram towards Vadapalani, with Kumar riding the motorcycle without wearing a helmet. While speeding along the flyover, Kumar lost control of the bike, which rammed into the parapet on the left side.The impact flung Kumar over the wall. He fell from a height of around 30ft onto the ground below and died on the spot. Perarasu fell onto the flyover and sustained critical injuries, police said.On information, personnel from the St Thomas Mount Traffic Investigation Wing rushed to the spot and shifted Perarasu to the Kalaignar Centenary Super Speciality Hospital in Guindy.Police retrieved Kumar’s body and sent it to Tambaram District Govt Hospital for postmortem. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
