A 55-year-old mason was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside his Laggere residence in Nandini Layout Tuesday morning.The deceased, Revanna Siddaiah, was discovered lying face down in the bedroom, blood oozing from his mouth and nose. Siddaiah and his son Prashant lived in the house as Siddaiah’s wife was in Kalaburagi, police said.Siddaiah is believed to have rolled down the cot while sleeping and died. “Panicked, Prashant called the neighbours and one of them informed us. On inspection, we did not find any physical injuries on the body. Neighbours said Siddaiah was down with viral fever for some days. However, we can discover the cause of death only after receiving the autopsy report,” an investigating officer said.Abandoned newborn rescuedA newborn girl child was rescued in Kakolu under Rajanakunte police jurisdiction near Yelahanka Monday evening. Members of the public called the police control room on coming across the newborn, who was abandoned in a bush by the roadside.Police shifted the child to a nearby hospital. After initial treatment, the newborn was handed over to child welfare officials. “We’re scanning CCTV footage from nearby buildings and other establishments to trace the persons who abandoned the child. Unfortunately, there is no CCTV near the place where the child was found,” a police source said.
