Lucknow: The state cabinet on Tuesday gave the nod to the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to increase the number of lanes on the upcoming Chitrakoot Link Expressway to six, instead of the existing plan for four lanes. It also approved an increase in the project cost from the earlier Rs 940 crore to Rs 1,009 crore.Covering a distance of 15.17 km, the Chitrakoot Link Expressway would enable vehicle owners travelling to the religious city of Chitrakoot Dham to seamlessly commute via the existing Bundelkhand Expressway to Bharatkoop locality. The link route would also facilitate increased movement of heavy vehicles heading towards Satna, Rewa and Jabalpur in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh via Uttar Pradesh.The greenfield expressway will be executed under the engineering, procurement and construction model, with the entire cost being borne by the state govt. The expressways authority would float the revised tender document within a few weeks.
