Thiruvananthapuram: Three youths wanted in connection with an alleged murder attempt following a dispute between two gang leaders based in Thiruvananthapuram have been arrested from a forest area in Karnataka, Vellarada Police said.The accused had allegedly fled to Karnataka after the attack and were hiding in the Mysuru-Sathyamangalam forest area, according to police. Acting on a tip-off received by Thiruvananthapuram rural district police chief Prashanthan Kani, a team led by Neyyattinkara DSP Stewart Keeler conducted the operation.The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Kounan, 40, Mohammed Hiras, 46, and Sayyed Salim, 25. The police team included Vellarada CI Sreekumaran Nair P, SCPO Deepu S Kumar, GSCPO Akhilesh S Vijayan and GSCPO Dhunish.The police said the accused are also facing several cases registered at police stations in Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka, including cases related to assault, theft, extortion and gang activities.The three accused were brought back and produced before the Neyyattinkara court. The court remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days, the police said.
