Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Monday announced Bihar govt would organise a two-day ‘Hindi Sahitya Samagam’ in Patna to promote the literary and cultural expansion of Hindi. He said prominent litterateurs, creators, poets and scholars of Hindi from across the country would be invited to the two-day event, to be held before March 2027.Addressing an event at State Archive in Patna on the occasion of ‘Hindi Diwas’, the CM asked officials concerned to complete preparations for the proposed event in a time-bound manner.Choudhary said Hindi was not merely a medium of communication but an expression of India’s identity, culture, civilisation and rich literary tradition. He urged people to recognise Hindi’s pride and glory and make sustained efforts for its wider promotion.The CM also said Hindi is among the most widely used languages in the world and ranks as the third most used language globally. Describing it as an important part of social and cultural life, he said its strength depends on its natural use by all sections of society.He recalled the contributions of national leaders in taking Hindi to the global stage. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said, brought honour to Hindi by addressing the United Nations in the language. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he added, regularly presents India’s views in Hindi at international forums. Choudhary also expressed gratitude to Modi for delivering a message in Hindi at an important platform such as Brics Summit.Prominent Hindi litterateur and former MLC Prem Kumar Mani shared the dais with Choudhary and addressed the event. Referring to Bihar’s literary legacy, Choudhary said writers such as Vidyapati, Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh “Dinkar” and Janakavi Nagarjuna enriched Hindi literature and guided society through their works.He said Hindi Diwas reminded citizens of both pride in and responsibility towards the language. Hindi, he said, should not be limited to govt functions or a single day, but should be used more in daily life, conduct and workplaces. He appealed to Bihar’s people to strengthen their pride in Hindi and promote it for wider international recognition.
