Renewed interest in Oasis recently saw their second album (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? officially overtake the biggest-selling album by their heroes The Beatles in the list of the UK’s most popular albums of all-time.
And Wonderwall, from that album, became a bittersweet England World Cup anthem this summer.
Excitement for Knebworth has been growing for years – ever since it was rumoured to be on the itinerary for Oasis’s 2025 tour.
Earlier this summer, it emerged that the band’s promoters had applied for an events licence that would cover the Knebworth gigs.
Other big artists to have performed at the grounds of the listed country house venue include Led Zeppelin, Queen, Sir Paul McCartney, Metallica and, in 2022, Liam Gallagher as a solo act.
Oasis made history over two nights in 1996, but in 2003, Robbie Williams beat their combined attendance record by playing three consecutive nights, drawing a total crowd of 375,000 people.
That record now looks set to be broken again.
This is history – as Noel once put it – now repeating itself.
