Five people including a child were wounded in an overnight Ukrainian drone attack on the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, local officials said Monday.
Emergency authorities said only one of the victims was hospitalized for their injuries. Three homes were also damaged as a result of the air assault, they added.
Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin said firefighters extinguished fires that had broken out from the attack. He warned people not to approach any drone debris.
In the neighboring Rostov region, Governor Yury Slyusar said air defense systems intercepted 50 drones over the region. He reported damage to civilian infrastructure but said that no one was hurt.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said it intercepted 399 Ukrainian drones across Russia and annexed Crimea between Sunday night and Monday morning.
Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a Russian attack on a farm warehouse in the northern Chernihiv region killed three people and injured seven others, police said Monday.
The deadly strike came after Russia struck a passenger train near Ukraine’s border with Poland on Sunday. A train carrying European officials was said to have passed through the area shortly before that attack.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot accused Russia of trying to scare and divide Europeans.
