Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad police have acted against 2,500 criminals on record and externed 53 from the district ahead of the Ganapati festival as a preventive measure.The police launched a special drive across four zones. Deputy commissioner of police (crime) Rohidas Pawar said the police externed 53 criminals on police records from the district.“To avoid any untoward incident during the festival, we would be taking constant preventive action against criminals on police records,” Pawar said.Pimpri Chinchwad police are also keeping a close watch on social media posts. The police have appealed to all group admins on social media platforms to monitor messages posted in their groups.
