Panaji: A bus driver dashed into a scooter on Friday while driving from Old Goa towards Panaji, leading to a 21-year-old pillion rider from Mysuru, Karnataka, losing his life in the accident. Old Goa Police have booked a case of rash and negligent driving against the bus driver Rupesh Goankar, 39, a resident of Honda, Sattari.The accident occurred on Friday evening just before the Merces circle on NH 748 when the accused drove in a rash manner endangering life while proceeding from Old Goa towards Panaji. Near Merces circle, he dashed against the scooter from behind, leading to injuries to the rider Kiran, 24, and pillion rider Chandu Laxman, both from Mysuru.The two were shifted to GMC, Bambolim, where Laxman succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in the casualty ward.Further investigation is in progress.
