Kanpur: Divisional commissioner Vijeyendra Pandian on Saturday inspected the roacd being constructed under CM Grid in the city and patch work on roads and directed the Kanpur Municipal Corporation (KMC) officials to complete the patchwork in entire city with in 15 days.After witnessing the progress of CM Grid roads he set a deadline of Oct 31, 2026 for completion of project. He specifically stated that action should be taken to blacklist executing agencies that fail to complete the work within the stipulated time frame.The Divisional Commissioner first inspected the road construction work being carried out under the CM Grid Scheme in the Jajmau area of Zone-2 specifically the stretches from JK-1 to Pacific Lawn and from VIP Road to Lal Bangla Crossing. Municipal Commissioner Arpit Upadhyay, the Municipal Corporation’s Chief Engineer, and other concerned officials were present during the inspection.Officials apprised that a 2.4km road was being constructed under the scheme using the ‘white topping’ method. This technique is specifically employed in areas prone to waterlogging. According to officials, roads constructed using white topping remain intact for 20 to 25 years, ensuring smooth traffic flow. The deadline for the construction of this road is Oct 31.The Divisional Commissioner directed that the construction work be carried out on a war footing and completed within a month. Upon learning that work on the footpath had stalled due to encroachment along a 60-meter stretch of the road, he ordered the removal of the encroachment through a dedicated drive and instructed that the construction of the footpath be initiated.Subsequently, the Divisional Commissioner inspected the patch repair work underway between VIP Road and Lal Bangla. Work was found to be in progress at the site. He stated that the rainy season is drawing to a close, so the pace of patch repair work should be accelerated. He instructed to the chief engineer to make the city’s roads pothole-free within the next 15 days by carrying out the work as a campaign.The Divisional Commissioner also inspected the CM Grid construction work in Zone-4, stretching from Swaroop Nagar Police Station via Mata Swaroop Rani Marg to Matke Wala Crossing. This road is 1.50 kilometers long. Laying of sewer line and electric duct work was going on there.During the inspection, the Divisional Commissioner directed that debris resulting from road construction be removed by 8 PM on Saturday without fail. He also ordered the installation of proper barricading around open manholes and chambers on the road to prevent inconvenience to the public.Additionally, instructions were issued to limit the width of the footpath to two meters.………………..
