Chikkamagaluru: A Prajaseva meeting in Koppa taluk of Chikkamagaluru district witnessed high drama after KPCC spokesperson Sudhir Kumar Murolli pulled up revenue officials for delaying the issuance of a caste certificate to an ex-serviceman who served 20 years in the Indian Army.Questioning the delay, Murolli pulled up tahsildar Likitha Mohan and the village accountant, saying officials must dispose of public works legally and swiftly without harassment.The village accountant failed to give a satisfactory reply to Murolli’s questions and walked out of the meeting.It is alleged that the higher official delayed the certificate because of a personal grudge, triggering public outrage at the meeting.“The soldier who served the nation for two decades should not be made to run around a govt office for his rightful certificate. It is the duty of officers to respond to the common man’s problems and not delay it for personal reasons,” Murolli said.Badra CADA chairman KP Amshumath, who was present at the meeting, said the official, despite being in a responsible post, displayed irresponsibility by asking for action to be taken against him. He said the complaint should be taken seriously and action initiated against him.The MLA, who was present, is said to have been instructed to take action against the official concerned.
