Gandhinagar: Randeep Singh Surjewala, newly appointed in charge of the Gujarat Congress, on Saturday said the party would formulate a new agenda for a “new Gujarat” focused on employment, enterprise, farmers and the poor. He expressed confidence that the Congress would emerge victorious in the 2027 Gujarat assembly election.Addressing reporters after a meeting with the party’s state leadership at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the Congress headquarters, Surjewala said Gujarat holds special significance for the party as its ideology and vision originated in the state.“The ideology and vision of Congress were born in the soil of Gujarat. For the party, Gujarat is not merely a state but a source of strength,” the Rajya Sabha member said.Surjewala said party leaders and workers had been invited to share their ideas over the coming days, which would be consolidated into a comprehensive roadmap for the state.He said discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and transforming them into a broader public movement. Leaders also deliberated on issues affecting farmers, workers in Surat’s diamond and textile sectors, and the state’s youth.
