JHAJJAR: Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda has raised questions over the state of education and basic infrastructure in government schools in Jhajjar district.During a programme, the MP highlighted the poor condition of a toilet at a government school in Rudiwas village and urged the district education officer (DEO) to personally visit the school and assess the situation.Hooda has been raising concerns over the education system and basic facilities in government schools during his two-day visit to the district, where he participated in various programmes.During the programme, Hooda showed the DEO a photograph of the school toilet and questioned the condition of facilities being provided to students.Addressing the education officer, Hooda said the DEO should visit the school and use the toilet himself to understand the conditions in which children are being forced to use such facilities.Hooda also raised concerns over the declining number of students in government schools across Jhajjar district.He said the number of children enrolled in government schools has been continuously declining and questioned the overall state of the education system. According to Hooda, the government and the education department need to take the issue seriously and work towards improving the situation.The Congress MP also questioned the allocation and utilisation of the education budget for Jhajjar district.Hooda alleged that while around 10% of the budget provision had been made for the district, only around 1% of the announced education budget had actually reached the district. He questioned why such a situation had arisen and why, according to him, Jhajjar was being subjected to such discrimination.The MP also sought to know who should be held responsible for the alleged disparity.The concerns raised by Hooda include the condition of school infrastructure, declining student enrolment and the allocation and utilisation of the education budget.The issue has also brought the need for regular inspections by education officials into focus. Facilities such as toilets, drinking water, classrooms and other basic amenities need to be checked at the school level.Hooda’s remarks have put the spotlight on the condition of government schools in Jhajjar and raised questions over whether education officials should regularly inspect classrooms, toilets, drinking-water facilities and other basic amenities.
