Canacona: An eight-foot-long python weighing 25-30kg was rescued on Friday morning after becoming entangled in old fishing nets used as fencing behind a house at Talpona in Canacona. Local fisherman Anil Keluskar spotted the reptile struggling in the net, alerted villagers and informed the forest department.Harish Chodankar of the Canacona range, who freed the python, said the reptile had no visible injuries.Chodankar said the python may have entered the area in search of prey before accidentally coming into contact with the net and becoming trapped.He later carried the python to Hati-Pawl Wildlife Sanctuary and released it there after confirming that it was uninjured.
