Aizawl: Mizoram excise and narcotics department officials have seized 576 grams of heroin in Champhai town and arrested two Assam residents, an official said on Friday.The seizure was made around 8.30 pm on Thursday within Zotlang locality along the Champhai bypass highway linking Zokhawthar, the India-Myanmar border trade centre, department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said. The contraband was allegedly being transported from Myanmar to Aizawl.The accused were identified as Mebub Alom Bharbuiya (24) of Lakhipur district, and Farukh Ahmed Laskar (44) of Cachar district in Assam, Zohmingthanga said.They were booked under Section 21(c) of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and were produced before a district court in Champhai on Friday.
