Varanasi: Varanasi Police Commissionerate has secured 5th position in Uttar Pradesh in the August CM Dashboard ranking, marking a major improvement in policing performance and public safety.The officials said that under the monitoring of Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal, Varanasi Police Commissionerate has made significant progress in policing performance.The CM Dashboard ranking is based on 50 key performance indicators. Varanasi Police Commissionerate secured 1st position in the state in 22 KPIs and ranked among the top five in six KPIs.According to officials, Varanasi had generally remained around the 70th rank in 2023 and 2024, placing it among the bottom 10 districts in the state. With continuous efforts, improved policing and effective monitoring, the Commissionerate has now reached the top five.The evaluated indicators include crime control, disposal of investigations, arrest of reward-declared and other accused persons, Dial 112 response time and caller satisfaction, action against cow smuggling, NDPS cases, crimes against women, SC/ST Act cases, action under the Goonda Act and Gangster Act, heinous crimes, and convictions awarded by courts.In crimes against women, including murder, rape, molestation, kidnapping and dowry death, Varanasi secured 1st position in the state by ensuring 100% action in investigation disposal and proceedings against accused persons.In SC/ST Act cases, the Commissionerate achieved 1st position by ensuring 100% effective action in investigation disposal and proceedings against accused persons.Varanasi also secured 1st position for action taken against accused persons under the Excise Act, Gangster Act and Goonda Act.In cases under the Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, the Commissionerate secured 1st position by ensuring 100% effective action in investigation disposal and proceedings against accused persons.In fire safety-related work, including NOC and fire safety assessment, the Commissionerate achieved 100% action and secured 1st position in the state.Under citizen services, including employee verification, domestic help verification, tenant verification, CCTNS complaints, event performance requests, procession requests, protests and strikes, Varanasi achieved high scores with 100% action and secured 1st position.Dial 112 PRV response time in August also remained outstanding. The average response time was 4.90 minutes, while in 20,191 cases, the response time was within 10 minutes. Varanasi Commissionerate secured 1st position in this category.In POCSO Act cases, the Commissionerate secured 2nd position in the state by taking 100% effective action against accused persons.In heinous crimes, Varanasi achieved 96.42% investigation disposal and 94.92% action against wanted accused persons, securing 4th position in the state.Under the Gangster Act, pending investigation disposal and action against wanted accused persons stood at 98.00% and 99.47% respectively, placing the Commissionerate among the top five in the state.Across Kashi, Varuna and Gomti zones of Varanasi Commissionerate, 93.71% quality investigation disposal was carried out in registered cases.
