Srinagar, Sep 8: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to remove the maximum educational qualification of 10+2 prescribed for recently notified Class-IV (MTS) and sanitation worker posts.
Bukhari said the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) notification, by restricting eligibility to candidates with qualifications up to 10+2, had left thousands of graduates and postgraduates ineligible to apply.
“By prescribing a maximum qualification, the Government has effectively told thousands of young people that being more educated can make them ineligible for a government job,” Bukhari said.
He said the policy could further discourage youth from pursuing higher education at a time when college admissions have already been declining.
Bukhari urged the government to reconsider the notification and allow all otherwise eligible candidates, including 10+2 pass-outs, graduates and postgraduates, to compete for the posts.
“The solution cannot be to close the doors of employment to those who have acquired higher qualifications,” he said.
