Gurgaon: Three men have been arrested for allegedly stealing cash and gold and silver jewellery from a house in Nuh last month, with police saying one of the accused used part of the stolen money to buy two expensive iPhones.The theft took place at the house of Nepal, a resident of Ward 8, Nuh, on the intervening night of August 20 and 21. According to the complaint, unidentified thieves entered an upper room of the house around 3.30am and escaped with gold and silver jewellery, cash and other valuables. The stolen articles included gold rings, chains, a mangalsutra, necklace and bangles, besides silver ornaments and Rs 85,000 in cash.Police said a forensic team was called to the spot after the theft came to light and chance fingerprints and other evidence were collected. Investigators subsequently traced three suspects — Aamir, 21, of Nuh; Sagar, 22, of Nuh; and Deepak, 22, of Faridabad.Aamir was arrested on September 4 and taken on police remand for questioning. Police said he disclosed the involvement of Sagar and Deepak, who allegedly assisted him in disposing of the stolen property.According to SHO Nuh Sadar, Kuldeep Singh, “A substantial portion of the stolen money was recovered from Aamir. We have also recovered an iPhone 17 Pro and an iPhone 14 Pro, which police said had been purchased with money from the theft. Jewellery and silver articles allegedly linked to the theft, old coins and a lighter pistol were also recovered from his house.”Singh added that Sagar allegedly received a commission for helping sell the stolen jewellery and recovered Rs 20,000 from him, besides an iPhone 15, a Vivo mobile phone and a Swift car. Rs 3,000 allegedly received as Deepak’s share was also recovered.Police said the total cash recovery from the stolen amount was around Rs 6.15 lakh. The recovered property is being examined as part of the investigation.“We traced the accused on the basis of the investigation and arrested all three. Aamir committed the theft while Sagar and Deepak helped him dispose of the stolen goods,” the officer said.The officer further said all three accused have been produced before a court and judicial remand has been sought.Police are investigating where the remaining stolen jewellery and valuables were disposed of and whether the accused were involved in other similar offences.Police said Aamir and Sagar have previous cases relating to fights and quarrels, while the theft case is being investigated further.
