Happy news for ‘Lucifer’ fans! The franchise is officially heading towards its third chapter. Producer Antony Perumbavoor has confirmed that work on ‘Lucifer 3’ is progressing. The upcoming film is expected to feature Mohanlal again. Prithviraj Sukumaran is also reportedly set to return as director. ‘Lucifer 3’ to follow ‘Empuraan ‘
The first ‘Lucifer’ arrived in 2019 and became a major success. Mohanlal played Stephen Nedumpally, while Prithviraj Sukumaran directed the film. Murali Gopy penned the screenplay. During the same podcast, Antony Perumbavoor addressed questions about the direct-to-OTT releases of ‘Drishyam 2’ and ‘Bro Daddy’. Both films were released during the COVID-19 pandemic. The producer explained that the circumstances at the time made theatrical releases difficult.He also revealed that Aashirvad Cinemas had produced six films during the pandemic. According to him, all six projects were made specifically for OTT platforms.“During the COVID period, Aashirvad produced six films. All of these were films made for OTT. When these films became big successes, people ask why they were not released in theatres. Bro Daddy and Drishyam 2 were not films made for theatrical release. Those films were released at a time when no one was stepping out of their homes. Since they were released on OTT, many people around the world who were not Malayalis also watched the films,” he said.
