Gurgaon: Barely three months after reorganising the city into eight administrative zones, MCG has again redrawn its administrative structure, reducing the number of zones to six while retaining the two-cluster system. According to an office order issued by MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Tuesday, the new six-zone structure will come into force with immediate effect from Tuesday and remain operational until further orders.The latest restructuring comes after the civic body had, in June, announced an eight-zone arrangement under two clusters, replacing the then-existing four-zone system. The change follows the state govt’s sanction of the staffing pattern for MCG on the basis of six zone/division offices. This appears to be a key reason behind the corporation reverting from the eight-zone framework announced in June to a six-zone administrative structure“We got sanctions for six joint commissioners only from urban local bodies (ULB) department due to which we decided to reorganise as per the approvals,” Dahiya told TOI.The new arrangement means each zone will now comprise six wards, with all 36 MCG wards distributed across the six zones. Zone 1 has wards 11, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18; zone 2 has wards 8, 10, 28, 29, 30 and 32; zone 3 has 5, 6, 7, 9, 33 and 34; zone 4 wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 35 and 36; zone 5 has 12, 13, 25, 26, 27 and 31; and zone 6 has 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 under its jurisdiction now.In zone 1, wards 16 and 17 have been retained from the previous arrangement, while in zone 3, ward numbers 5, 6, 7, 33 and 34 have been retained from the previous arrangement and only ward 9 has been added to zone 3.“The detailed responsibilities, administrative control, supervisory arrangements, reporting hierarchy, allocation of branches, deployment of officers and officials, delegation of administrative and financial powers and other operational matters relating to the newly constituted Administrative Clusters and Zones shall be issued separately through subsequent orders. Until issuance of such detailed orders, all officers and officials shall continue to discharge their duties in accordance with the existing instructions, orders and arrangements in force,” read the order issued late on Monday.
