Jaipur: A 38-year-old private school owner died allegedly by suicide after jumping from the seventh floor of a mall on Ajmer Road Monday morning. Police suspect marital discord may have contributed to his stress.The incident took place around 9.30am at Elements Mall, which was only partially open at the time, as most shops, restaurants and the cineplex open around 11.30am.Police and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team arrived at the scene after the incident. The deceased, identified as Abhinav Raj, a resident of Durga Marg in Bani Park, ran a private school in the area, police said.Chitrakoot Nagar police said Raj left home around 9am on his Apache motorcycle and reached the mall, around 9km away, about 30 minutes later. He parked his motorcycle, removed his helmet and took the lift to the seventh floor, from where he allegedly jumped into the parking area.A senior police officer said CCTV footage from the mall and parking area was being examined to establish the sequence of events. Evidence was also collected from the spot.The body was sent to the mortuary at SMS Hospital for postmortem.Chitrakoot station house officer Vikram Singh said preliminary investigation suggested Raj had been under stress due to marital discord. “We will question family members and, if needed, we will investigate the abetment of suicide charge in the case,” Singh said.Police said Raj, the youngest of three siblings, married around two years ago. His family told police that differences persisted between the couple after their marriage, and they were living separately. Raj remained under stress for the past three to four months due to marital disputes, the family told police.Monday morning, Raj got ready to leave for the school but did not speak to anyone at home before leaving on his motorcycle, police said.“No suicide note has been recovered so far. The exact reasons and circumstances that led to the suicide are being investigated,” an officer said.
