Sasaram: A 16-year-old boy was shot at and critically injured under Sasaram town police station area in Rohtas district on Monday following an argument over speeding in a narrow lane, police said. Six persons have been detained and an illegal country-made pistol recovered in connection with the incident.The victim, Sahil Kumar, son of Mochi Paswan, was riding a motorcycle through an alley in Takiya locality in Sasaram when local residents objected to his speed. The argument soon turned violent, during which an assailant allegedly opened fire, hitting Sahil in the thigh.Another teenager, Satyam Kumar, son of Ritesh Pandey, sustained a head injury during the ensuing scuffle.Residents rushed Sahil to the trauma centre at Sadar Hospital. After first aid, doctors referred him to a hospital in Varanasi due to the seriousness of his injuries. Satyam was treated and later discharged.Rohtas SP Mister Raj said police acted immediately after receiving information about the incident.“Six persons have been taken into custody for their involvement in the case. Based on information obtained during interrogation, a country-made pistol has also been recovered,” the SP said.Police said further investigation is underway to identify the shooter and ascertain the sequence of events leading to the firing. The incident came hours after a separate double murder in the district, adding to concerns over rising violent crime in the region.
