New Delhi: To improve last-mile connectivity, Bharat Taxi, which started with just 10 metro stations in Jan, is now available across all stations on the Delhi-NCR network. E-autos are presently operational at 52 metro stations, recording an average daily ridership of around 60,192 passengers.Similarly, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s public bicycle sharing ecosystem, comprising both pedal-cycle and battery-operated e-bike services, is available at several metro stations. E-rickshaw services are operational at 20 metro stations.“DMRC entered into an MoU with Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Ltd. (STCL), an initiative of the ministry of cooperation, in Jan 2026 for providing mobility services under the brand name Bharat Taxi. Starting with modest 10 stations, the service got gradually extended to other stations and is now covering all stations across Delhi-NCR network,” said a DMRC official.Bharat Taxi is India’s first cooperative-based ride-hailing platform. It follows a driver-owned, zero-commission model, under which drivers, known as ‘Sarathis’, become shareholders and receive fares directly in their bank accounts. “To further facilitate commuter access and improve visibility of the service, geo-tagging of operational Bharat Taxi locations is under process, along with the installation of standees at operational locations.,” said the official.Besides Bharat Taxi, 2,299 e-autos are currently operational at 52 metro stations, including Saket, Hauz Khas, Dwarka, Azadpur, Janakpuri West and Malviya Nagar metro stations. “DMRC has facilitated these services through operators and aggregators. Four operators are currently providing the service.” said an official.Pedal-cycle services, provided by one operator, are available at eight stations. Battery-operated e-bike services are being provided by three operators at 77 sites. In addition, battery-swapping facilities for e-rickshaws are available through three operators at 20 metro stations.DMRC is also integrating first- and last-mile options into its digital platforms. “The Smart Door to Door feature of the DMRC Sarthi Mobile App provides an integrated mobility solution that enables commuters to plan their complete journey from origin to destination, extending beyond the metro network.” said the official. He added that service is being offered through Rapido and Bharat Taxi.
