Agra: A 25-year-old man, who walked out of jail on bail about a year ago in an “attempt to murder” case, has been re-arrested for raping a 16-year-old Dalit girl at a farm on Sept 3.Police said on Sunday that the man allegedly took her to a secluded place and sexually assaulted her. Based on a complaint, an FIR was registered at the local thana under BNS sections 65 (1) (rape) and 351 (criminal intimidation) along with the SC/ST Act and Pocso Act.SP (Mathura-rural), Suresh Chandra Rawat, said the accused had a dispute with a youth from his village in 2022. “During that incident, he gouged out both his eyes with his fingers. A case was subsequently registered at Jait police station under IPC 307 (attempt to murder), and he was sent to jail.”According to police, the accused secured bail after spending around three years in custody.
