Exercise caution before you click on any link or open attachments.Attn-Jhk deskRajesh Kumar PandeyDumka: In a heartbreaking incident taken place late on Tuesday, three members of the same family, including a married couple husband and their young daughter, were killed when they were struck by the New Jalpaiguri-Hawra Vande Bharat Express (train no. 22302) near Nagarnabi Railway Station in Pakur district.The victims, identified as Chandan Sardar (35) hailing from Kalitalla Mohalla under town police station limits, his wife Rumpha Sardar (29) and their toddler daughter Arpita (3), died on the spot.Eyewitnesses’ account suggests the family was returning from the wife’s sister’s house at Vikrampur village under Malpahadi police station limits, and attempting to cross the railway tracks when the high-speed train hit them at around 7 PM.The impact was so severe that their bodies were found mangled on the tracks, sparking panic in the area.Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams rushed to the scene upon receiving reports.The bodies were removed from the tracks before been sent for post-mortem procedures at Pakur Sadar Hospital on Wednesday.Relatives gathered at the GRP outpost at Pakur Railway Station Wednesday morning to learn details of the tragedy.Family members revealed that Chandan Sardar’s 8-year-old son, who was at home hence escaped the mishap.The sudden loss of three lives has cast a pall of grief over the neighborhood, with locals thronging the station area after being informed about the mishap.GRP outpost ASI Shibu Sardar confirmed the incident occurred near pole numbers 145/38 and 145/40 at Nagarnabi station.“Our team found the bodies of a man, a woman, and a child scattered in pieces. We have taken custody of the remains and started legal formalities” the ASI stated adding the bodies will be handed over to relatives after completion.Authorities are investigating, with locals urging better safety measures at unmanned crossings.
