Lucknow: Four workers were killed after a heavy part of a machine at a crusher plant collapsed and buried them under debris in Mirzapur’s Ahraura area on Saturday afternoon.The accident occurred around 3 pm while dust was reportedly being removed at the plant, triggering a rescue and relief operation by the police and district administration. The deceased were identified as Lal Bahadur, Ashok, Rakesh and Duryodhan, all residents of the Bargawan area under Chunaar police station. Mirzapur SP Aparna Rajat Kaushik said officials are also examining the circumstances in which the machine component collapsed.Senior officials, including SP Operations Raj Kumar Meena and circle officer Mohammad Faheem, reached the site and inspected the accident spot. They also interacted with people connected with the plant and began collecting information about the incident.According to preliminary information, the plant owner and other employees were not present at the site when the accident occurred. Police have started questioning people associated with the plant to establish what happened immediately before the machinery collapsed and whether adequate safety measures were in place.Meanwhile, chief minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the accident and expressed condolences to the bereaved families.The CM directed senior officials to reach the spot immediately and expedite relief and rescue operations. He also instructed officials to communicate with the bereaved families and ensure that all possible assistance, including appropriate compensation, is provided to them.
