Patna: Education minister Mithilesh Tiwari on Teachers’ Day urged state‘s nearly 5.8 lakh teachers to focus on improving their schools and shaping the state’s future, while assuring them that their grievances would be addressed without the need to travel to Patna for protests.Speaking at a state-level Teachers’ Day function at Shri Krishna Memorial Hall on Saturday, Tiwari said teachers were the “makers of Bihar’s bright future” and had a role that extended beyond classroom teaching. He urged them to help inculcate discipline, sensitivity and a sense of responsibility among students.The minister’s remarks came a day after he sent a three-page personal letter to around 5.8 lakh teachers across the state, highlighting their role in shaping children’s personality, values and future.Tiwari said the education department was working to resolve teachers’ problems at the earliest in line with directions from the chief minister. “The most important workplace for teachers is their school,” he said, appealing to them to remain focused on educational activities.At the function, chief minister Samrat Choudhary honoured 37 teachers with state teacher awards for outstanding contributions to education.Recalling Bihar’s rich academic heritage, Tiwari said teachers could play a key role in restoring the state’s position as a global centre of learning. He also urged them to inspire students with the ideals of knowledge, strength and patriotism associated with Swami Vivekananda.The minister congratulated Pushpa Prasad and Khushboo Kumari for receiving the National Teacher Award-2026, describing the honour as recognition of their dedication and commitment to education.
