Srinagar, September 4: A delegation of intern doctors from across Jammu & Kashmir is set to meet the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today to discuss their long-pending demand for a revision of the internship stipend.
The delegation is currently at the office of the Advisor to the Chief Minister and is being led by AIMSA All India Medical Students Association Leader Dr. Tasaduk, along with Joint Secretary Dr. Akib, Dr. Shahnawaz, Dr. Tanish Mansotra and Dr. Faraz.
The interns are seeking an immediate revision of their stipend and have maintained that their peaceful protest will continue until the hike is formally approved and issued through a written Government Order.
Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, AIMSA State In-Charge, said that he received a call from government officials last night requesting that an intern doctors’ delegation be sent for discussions.
“Last night, I received a call from the government requesting us to send an intern delegation for dialogue. We welcome this initiative and hope the government will take a concrete decision on the long-pending stipend issue,” Dr. Khan said.
He added that the interns would firmly place their concerns and demands before the government and seek an early and concrete resolution.
Dr. Khan reiterated that there would be no compromise on the demand and that the protest would be called off only after the stipend hike is formally approved and a written Government Order is issued.
The delegation is expected to strongly present the concerns of intern doctors from across J&K and seek immediate action from the government.
