Mysuru: Voters whose names have been placed under the “no mapping” category, or flagged for logical discrepancies and anomalies, are being asked to prove their identity during the SIR process. At the same time, voters whose names appear in the draft list are also required to verify that all particulars are accurate and, if needed, correct errors in their recorded details.Three voters said their ages in the draft list were incorrectly recorded. All three are from different constituencies of Mysuru and Mandya districts. In each of the three cases, the draft list mentions their age as three years higher than their actual age. This is although they had provided Aadhaar details and clearly entered their date of birth in the enumeration forms. The discrepancy has forced all three of them to submit Form 8 applications for correction, so that the age entered can be rectified in the final electoral roll which is yet to be published.An election officer said voters have time until Oct 25 to submit corrections and that the required rectifications will be carried out within the stipulated period. However, why the errors occurred in the first place—particularly the repeated age discrepancy and the failure to map certain names—will need to be verified with the booth level officer (BLO) concerned, who handled the underlying enumeration and data entry.On the one hand, those voters, about 1.28 lakh in Mysuru district, whose names are categorised as no mapping and logical discrepancies or anomalies have to prove their identity in the SIR process while those whose names are in the draft list too have to verify the entries and get them rectified.A BLO claimed the system has taken 2002 data to calculate the age of voters though they had submitted Aadhaar and mentioned their date of birth in the enumeration forms.C Venkatesh, an electoral registration officer of NR assembly segment, said if voters’ names aren’t there in the draft list, they have to submit Form 6 and enrol as new voters, and voters who want to get entries corrected have to submit Form 8. ECI has made the process simple and has given various options to voters to get entries rectified.
