Lucknow: Summit Building has once again found itself at the centre of a late-night commotion. However, police on Thursday said an incident being circulated on social media as a fight at the popular nightlife hub was a case of an intoxicated woman injuring herself after striking a glass panel.“The incident was reported from a club on the first floor of Summit Building in Vibhuti Khand during the intervening night of Sept 2 and 3,” police said. The episode comes against the backdrop of repeated late-night disturbances at the building, one of Lucknow’s prominent nightlife destinations. With several clubs and entertainment venues operating from the premises, even minor incidents often attract public attention and fuel speculation on social media.According to police, they received information that a woman in an inebriated state was creating a disturbance inside the club. A police team, including women personnel, was immediately dispatched to the spot.“During the commotion, the woman allegedly hit the glass panel fitted on the club’s podium with her hand, shattering it. She sustained an injury to her hand and began shouting in pain, prompting police intervention,” police said. The woman, a resident of Rajnikhand in Gomti Nagar, was provided first aid before being counselled and sent home safely with a female friend.Refuting reports of a fight, Vibhuti Khand police said no assault had taken place at the venue and no bouncer was injured. They described social media posts claiming a clash at Summit Building as misleading.
