Kanpur: Police have formed multiple teams and are examining CCTV footage to trace intruders who allegedly strangled Uma Kushwaha (58) during a robbery at her home in Sector J, Hasanpur, under Rawatpur police station in Kanpur on Tuesday evening.Police said Kushwaha was watching television around 5pm when the assailants entered the house for a robbery. They strangled her when she resisted them. They then placed her body on a chair to avoid raising anyone’s suspicion.About three hours later, a tenant who came downstairs to switch on the water pump noticed Kushwaha on the chair. After receiving no response, she called her husband.On arriving at home, her husband noticed a dark bruise around Kushwaha’s neck and household items scattered across the house.Her family claimed jewellery worth Rs 22 lakh and other belongings were missing.Police and forensic teams examined the scene after being informed.Kushwaha’s younger son, Ashish, works as a senior technician in Delhi’s health ministry. Her elder son, Amrish, lives separately with his family in Maswanpur. Her husband, Shivmangal Kushwaha, runs a book stall.DCP (West) SM Qasim Abidi said all aspects related to the incident are being investigated. Based on CCTV footage, efforts are being made to identify the accused. The incident will be disclosed soon.
