MANDYA: III additional district and sessions court at Srirangapatna has rejected the bail petition of Aishwarya, daughter of Tumakuru Rural MLA Suresh Gowda of BJP.She has been accused of slapping, abusing and obstructing a woman police sub-inspector while she was performing bandobast duty at Aarathi Ukkada Temple near Srirangapatna in the third week of August.Mandya SP VJ Shobharani told TOI that she has no information about the developments in the case and asked TOI to contact the investigating officer (IO) Lakshminarayan.The IO told TOI that the local court rejected Aishwarya’s bail petition on August 31 and they are probing the case.But though 20 days have lapsed, the Mandya district police have not acted in the case.CCTV footage in which the MLA’s daughter is found slapping the police sub-inspector who was on duty has surfaced, which has attracted criticism from various quarters.The alleged incident took place on August 12 during Bhimana Amavasya celebrations, when a large number of devotees had gathered at the temple.Police sub-inspector Savitha, who was deployed for security duty from 2pm to 10pm, had lodged a complaint at Mandya Women’s Police Station that Aishwarya slapped her.The BJP MLA had apologised for the incident but had blamed the police officer of behaving arrogantly while Aishwarya has lodged a counter-complaint alleging that the PSI abused her.
