Thiruvananthapuram: Dr Rekha K Krishnan, who was involved in a controversy over her alleged misbehaviour with a patient at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital, has been transferred to the primary health centre (PHC) at Thenmala.The transfer follows an inquiry conducted by the district medical officer (DMO), which found that the doctor’s conduct towards the patient was inappropriate and that there had been a lapse on her part.In the inquiry report submitted to the director of health services (DHS), the DMO recommended that Dr Rekha be shifted from Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. The report also recommended that she should not be assigned consecutive day-and-night duties in the future.The controversy erupted after visuals allegedly showing the doctor behaving inappropriately towards a patient and those accompanying the patient were widely circulated. Following the incident, Dr Rekha had been directed to proceed on compulsory leave pending the inquiry.Based on the findings of the DMO’s inquiry, the health services department has now issued an order transferring her to Thenmala PHC.Further departmental action, if any, will be taken based on the inquiry findings.
