Kolkata: Police have re-arrested Beleghata strongman Raju Naskar in an alleged extortion and property-grabbing case. The case follows a complaint by Arnab Dey, a resident of Abinash Chandra Banerjee Lane, who alleged that Naskar ran an organized crime syndicate to seize local properties. Dey claimed Naskar’s associates assaulted him in May 2022 and forced him at gunpoint to forfeit rights to a 350 sq ft flat for Rs 2.5 lakh. He alleged Naskar also forcibly occupied a flat belonging to his brother. Beleghata Police registered an FIR on Aug 27 naming Naskar and 50 unidentified associates. Investigation is underway.
