Hazaribag: A 14-year-old boy was killed after being struck by lightning on the premises of Upgraded Middle School in Dadha in Chatra during a National Sports Day programme on Saturday. The deceased Anish Oraon, a resident of Booty More in Ranchi, had been staying with his maternal grandfather Bandhan Oraon in Chatra for studies.Police said the school event was underway when the weather suddenly changed in the afternoon. Clouds gathered over the area, followed by loud thunder and a lightning strike on the campus. Anish was hit, triggering panic among students, teachers and others present.Personnel from Sadar police station rushed to the spot after being informed. Sadar OC Anil Oraon said the seriously injured boy was taken to Chatra Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His death left his family, classmates, teachers and local residents shocked and grieving deeply across the area.
