Hyderabad: Leaders and nursing officers of the Telangana Nurses Association (TNA), along with medical and health department employees, joined a mass protest in Hyderabad organised by the Telangana Government Employees’ Joint Action Committee (TGEJAC).The protesters demanded immediate implementation of the second pay revision commission (PRC) recommendations and release of six pending dearness allowance (DA) instalments. They also sought the abolition of the contributory pension scheme (CPS) and restoration of the old pension scheme (OPS).Other demands included clearance of pending employee bills and addressing shortcomings in the Employees’ Health Scheme (EHS). TNA leaders said govt employees and their families should have access to better and more efficient medical services.Association leaders urged the state govt to respond positively to the concerns of nursing officers and other medical and health department employees and resolve their issues without further delay.They warned that if the demands remained unresolved, TGEJAC would organise a “Chalo Hyderabad” programme on Sept 10 under the leadership of chairperson Maram Jagadish and general secretary Eluru Srinivas. Thousands of employees are expected to participate, they said, adding that the agitation would be intensified.Separately, the association also raised concerns over contract vacancies at Gandhi Medical College (GMC).
