Gurgaon: A six-year-old boy drowned in a pond near Chhath Ghat in Devilal Colony on Thursday afternoon while playing with other children, leaving his family and residents of the area in shock.The residents said Ankush and other children had stepped into the pond. Ankush moved towards the deeper end of the pond. The other children saw him struggling and raised an alarm. Hearing their screams, people nearby rushed to the spot and began searching for the boy.After considerable effort, some youths managed to pull him out of the pond. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where the doctors declared him dead.Ankush was the only child of his mother and lived with her at his maternal uncle’s house. His mother is inconsolable.Following the incident, residents have urged authorities to take steps to prevent children from accessing the deep sections of the pond and ensure adequate safety measures around it.
