Nagpur: Vidarbha Association of Software Exporters (VASE) and Orange Tigers, a franchise team of the Vidarbha Premier League (VPL), will jointly organise the VASE IT Football Cup on weekends from Saturday.The four-day tournament for IT company employees will be played at the Bishop Cotton turf. The nine-a-side tournament will conclude on Sept 6, informed tournament director Abhilash Bhusari while briefing the media on Thursday. He said, “Eight teams will be divided in two groups from where the top two finishers will play the semifinals.”

Inu Majumdar, owner of Orange Tigers, said, “As a franchise team of VPL, we do not want our sporting contribution to remain limited to cricket. We want to explore different avenues through which we can contribute to society, engage stakeholders and help build a stronger sports culture in Nagpur.”The eight participating teams include Persistent, Infocepts, Altius, Accenture, Nice Software Solutions, MySpace, TCS Maitree A and B. Malhar Deshpande, Stavan Khisti and captains of all the teams were present.
