Lucknow: The bodies of two unidentified men were recovered from a canal near Kanausi Bridge in Manak Nagar police station area on Wednesday morning, police said, prompting an investigation into the circumstances of their deaths.Police received information around 7.30 am on Wednesday after a caller reported that two bodies appeared to be trapped in the regulator of a canal near Kanausi Bridge. A team from Manak Nagar police station reached the spot and, with assistance from personnel present at the site, pulled both bodies out of the canal.Officials said the deceased were male and their identities could not be confirmed immediately. Based on physical appearance, one victim is estimated to be around 40 years old, while the other is believed to be about 20.Police said an identifying mark was found on the younger man: a tattoo of the word “Mahakal” on his right hand. Investigators are using the tattoo and other physical features to help establish his identity.After completing legal formalities at the site, police sent the bodies to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations. Authorities said teams are checking missing-person records and trying to trace relatives as part of the ongoing inquiry.
