Ludhiana: Overnight car thefts continue with a brand-new Mahindra Scorpio stolen from outside a New Model Town house on Tuesday, just two months after being bought as a Father’s Day gift.Mayank Takkar, who had gifted the vehicle to his father on June 21, reported the theft to Division Number 5 police and provided them with security camera footage capturing the lifters who came in a Honda City around 2.30am.One of those men approached the parked SUV and unlocked it, triggering its hazard lights. The thief bypassed the security system, started the engine, and drove off within minutes, followed by his accomplices in the sedan. The family found the vehicle missing later that morning when Takkar’s mother went outside.Assistant sub-inspector Dharampal, head of the Kochar Market police post, said investigators had identified the registration-number plate of the suspects’ Honda City from the video footage. Police registered a case against the unidentified suspects and are trying to locate both vehicles.
