Chennai: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials seized ₹69,000 from two Tangedco employees during a raid at Nanganalluron Wednesday following complaints of bribe demands.The complaints were against officials and employees of the electricity distribution office, saying they were demanding money for new power connections to houses and commercial establishments, transfer of service connections and replacement of faulty electricity meters.During the search, DVAC officials seized ₹59,000 from an assistant divisional engineer and ₹10,000 from another Tangedco employee.The two were directed to appear before DVAC and explain the source of the cash. As they failed to provide a satisfactory explanation, DVAC recommended departmental action against them to senior Tangedco officials.Further inquiry is under way to determine whether the seized cash is linked to bribe collections and to verify the complaints received against employees at the office.
