Jhunjhunu: Police Wednesday arrested an interstate henchman of Rohit Godara and Virendra Charan in connection with the firing at the house of councillor Rajendra Berwal in Ratangarh in Churu over a ransom demand. The accused, identified as Bindu alias Mindu Modasia, was a wanted criminal carrying a reward of Rs 25,000.Police have so far arrested 12 people in the case, including the latest arrest, after earlier arresting 11 accused.Police said Sunil Kumar, son of Omprakash Prajapat, aged 48 years, resident of Ward No. 21, Ratangarh, lodged a report at the police station that on 14 May 2026 at around 5 in the morning, he was walking in the porch on the upper floor of the house when two masked persons came on the road in front of the house, one of whom was carrying a weapon. Police said the person holding the weapon pointed it at him and demanded a ransom of Rs 1 crore in the names of Virendra Charan and Rohit Godara. Police said the miscreants fired at the house, tried to kill him, and fled.Police said an offence under Sections 109(1), 308(4), 61(2), 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 was found to be established against accused Bindu alias Mintu, son of Karnsingh Jat, resident of Sorada Jadid (Modasia), Police Station Bahl, district Bhiwani, Haryana, and raids were conducted at possible locations to trace him.Police said wanted interstate criminal Bindu alias Mintu, carrying a reward of Rs 25,000 in the case, was arrested from Hisar, Haryana.
