Ahmedabad: Students from Ahmedabad delivered an assured performance in exams conducted by Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), with seven city students placed in All-India Top 25 in the Executive Programme test and five in the Professional Programme test.ICSI held Company Secretaries (CS) — Syllabus 2022 — exams in June 2026. The results were announced on Tuesday.At the national level, the pass percentage in the Professional Programme was 32.69 for Group 1 and 29.49 for Group 2. In the Executive Programme, 17.41% of candidates cleared Group 1, while 22.19% cleared Group 2.Gujarat recorded better results than the national average. Professional Programme candidates’ pass percentage was 35.92 in Group 1 and 33.06 in Group 2. Executive Programme candidates’ pass percentage was 24.44 in Group 1 and 24.25 in Group 2.In Ahmedabad, candidates taking the Professional Programme recorded 35.11 and 31.64 pass percentages in Group 1 and 2, respectively. Executive Programme candidates’ pass percentages were 28.36 in Group 1 and 27.19 in Group 2.Among Ahmedabad students, Priya Merchant secured All-India Rank 3 in Executive Programme with 428 marks, followed by Dhruv Mistry (Rank 9, 403 marks), and Arthav Jha (Rank 11, 395).Other toppers were Pratham Patel (Rank 12, 394), Pruthviraj Gohil (Rank 16, 389), Dhruv Soni (Rank 17, 387) and Renish Patel (Rank 18, 385).In the Professional Programme, Bhumika Sarawagi secured Rank 12 with 399 marks, Pooja Jha Rank 17 with 393 marks, and Anjali Prajapati Rank 19 with 390 marks.Other toppers were Urvashi Ramani, who secured Rank 20 with 389 marks, and Vijay Menani, Rank 21 with 388 marks.Bhumika said understanding concepts rather than rote learning, along with regular revision and extensive practice of previous papers, helped her succeed. Pooja Jha, who secured Rank 17, said daily preparation and understanding concepts were vital to cracking the exams.Priya Merchant, who secured Rank 3 in the Executive Programme, said students should focus not on how much they study but on how effectively they study. She scored 428 out of 700 marks and is pursuing BCom at C C Sheth College.The next CS Executive and Professional examinations will be held from Dec 21 to 28, 2026. Online applications with the fee will be accepted from Aug 26.Jaymeen Trivedi, chairman of the ICSI Ahmedabad chapter, said, “These are among the best results posted by the Ahmedabad chapter over the past decade.”Three out of every 10 candidates from Vadodara who took the Professional Programme exams passed, while the pass percentage in the Executive Programme was 24.In Vadodara, 30% of candidates cleared Group 1 and 31.54% cleared Group 2 of the Professional Programme. In the Executive Programme, 24.22% cleared Group 1 and 23.60% cleared Group 2.Vanshika Kamlesh Lulla secured All-India Rank 5 in the Professional Programme, while Harshvardhan Brahmankar secured AIR 13 in the Executive Programme.Vanshika, a second-year BCom student at M S University, said she was initially not interested in pursuing CS as a career. Her perspective changed after she secured exemptions in three subjects.Harshvardhan, currently in the third year of BCom, is the only one in his family currently pursuing the CS qualification. His mother, Rohini Brahmankar, works as a tailor. He was four when his father passed away.
