Tarakeswar: BJP’s Arambagh vice-president Ganesh Chakraborty was allegedly assaulted by workers of his own party on Tuesday.According to sources, Chakraborty had raised his voice against activities of Uttam Kundu, Arambagh president of the Ritabrata faction of Trinamool Congress and former Tarakeswar municipality chairperson, leading to the alleged assault.Chakraborty alleged: “Some followers of the former chairperson and some workers close to the local MLA entered my Champadanga residence and beat up my wife, who is also a local BJP functionary and myself.”“Some known extortionists from TMC joined our party and heckled us. We have informed our leadership about the same,” he added. No arrests have been made so far.
