Kanpur: A sub-inspector and three constables were suspended for demanding money from truck drivers transporting sand and gravel in Kanpur Dehat.SP Kanpur Dehat received video evidence showing a sub-inspector and three constables from Sikandra police station demanding money from trucks carrying excess sand and gravel on the highway.Following an investigation, the SP took disciplinary action by suspending the police personnel.In the incident occurring on Friday night, sub-inspector Jaiveer Yadav, along with constables Anil Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, and driver Shivam Yadav were on duty on the highway. They were stopping overloaded lorries and demanding money under the threat of legal consequences. A bystander captured the incident on video and forwarded it to the SP who promptly dispatched circle officer Sikandra Sanjay Verma to conduct an enquiry. The investigation found all four officers guilty of extortion, leading to their suspension.SP Arvind Mishra announced that a comprehensive investigation would be undertaken against these officers, followed by stringent disciplinary measures. tnn
