Times News NetworkKanpur: Residents of the city continued to reel under sultry weather conditions on Saturday as the city remained largely dry. Although the sky remained overcast for most of the day, the maximum temperature dipped by 1.3 degrees Celsius from Friday and was recorded at 33.2 degrees Celsius.The minimum temperature also fell marginally by 0.2 degrees Celsius to 25.8 degrees Celsius. High humidity, recorded at 86 per cent, made conditions uncomfortable. North-westerly winds blowing at a speed of 4.9 kmph failed to provide any significant relief to residents.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in all six districts of the Kanpur division during the next 24 hours. With the monsoon remaining active, cloudy conditions are likely to persist across the division, accompanied by a drop in temperature.In Kanpur Nagar, there is a strong possibility of intermittent thunderstorms, rain and gusty winds from Saturday night through Sunday evening.SN Sunil Pandey, weather expert at CSA University, said increasing moisture in the atmosphere and the formation of new weather systems are strengthening the flow of moisture over the region. He said scattered drizzle accompanied by intermittent strong winds is likely in the Kanpur division from August 23 to August 26.Light to moderate rain, with isolated spells of heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms and lightning, may occur at some places during this period.However, severe humidity is likely whenever sunshine breaks through the clouds.
