Times News NetworkKanpur: Gujarat’s Vivan Dev and Karnataka’s Atharva Navarange will clash in the boys’ U-17 final of the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis championship at The Sports Hub (TSH) here on Friday.In the girls’ U-17 final, Maharashtra’s Divyanshi will take on Ananya of Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, local paddler Satyam Giri Gupta of TSH booked his place in the main draw of the men’s event.Vivan Dev produced a controlled performance in the first semi final, defeating V. Ramakrishnan 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7. The two players were locked at 1-1 after the opening two games, but Vivan displayed better stamina and control over his shots to win the next two games and seal his place in the final.Atharva Navarange had to fight hard against Maharashtra’s Prateek Tulsani in the second semi-final. After losing the opening game 7-11, Atharva staged a fine comeback and won three games in a row to emerge victorious 7-11, 11-6, 11-7, 11-8.In the girls’ semi-finals, Divyanshi of Maharashtra made short work of West Bengal’s Ankolika Chakravarty, winning 14-12, 11-8, 11-4 in straight games.The second girls’ semi final turned into a thrilling contest between Tamil Nadu’s Ananya and Maharashtra’s Naisha Revkar. Naisha won the opening game 11-5, but Ananya quickly adjusted to the conditions and found her rhythm.She won the second game 16-14 and took the third before Naisha fought back to level the match in a tense fourth game, 12-10. Ananya, however, held her nerve in the decider and won 11-8 to book her place in the final.Director-general, PAC, Atul Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. Sanjeev Pathak, chairman of UPTTA, welcomed the chief guest. Piyush Agarwal, Sanjay Tandon and other dignitaries were also present.
